Khitai is the most mysterious land in the Dreaming East. For thousands of years, the people of this insular land have remained hidden behind their Great Wall, only emerging to fight or trade with their neighbours. But the balance has changed. Something dark has seized the heart of the empire.
On the outskirts of the empire, soldiers cling to their duty and fight to preserve the freedom of a land that barely remember.
Where the great highway leads towards the center of the empire, bandits rob and plunder without retribution. The men and women of the land fear starvation as their crops wither and die. They cry to the God-Emperor for help, but their prayers go unanswered.
Closer to the center of the empire, war rears it's ugly head. Rival warlords battle for control of the land, their armies of private mercenaries ravaging the countryside.
In comparison to the clamour of war, the very heart of the empire is eerily still. The streets of the capital are all but abandoned by men, and in their place twisted creatures roam.
